Any files you want to keep. I'm not trying to be trite here, but that's the gist of it. I backup only my document files; photos, graphics, business docs, etc...Software programs can always be reinstalled.  That diary you may have been keeping or all those photographs you took time and great pains to scan and edit in photo shop would all be lost and you'd have to begin all over again. It's your choice. Backup whatever means the most to you.
