Don>When Win95 gets frozen and I have to shut it down, when it comes
Don>back up it goes though a scandisk. When it does it waits for an
Don>entry by the operator. On one of my computers it takes no entry
Don>from the operator - it starts and completes by itself.
Don>What do I have to do to get all computers to work this way?
Joe>You could use TweakUI from Microsoft to change the boot setting to:
Joe>without prompting. Then it will run scandisk w/out asking for input.
That's the first part of the solution. If you don't have TweakUI you can edit
the MSDOS.SYS file in the root directory and add or modify the line
AutoScan=2 in the [Options] section. Remember to clear the file attributes
before editing. This will start Scandisk without prompting but Scandisk will
still stop if it finds an error.
The second part of the solution is to edit the SCANDISK.INI
file in the Windows\Command directory. The file is well documented with
comments. Set the options to automatically fix (or ignore) each of the
problems you don't want to know about.
