Hi Angela,
I just got back from vacation, researched your problem, and have a
depressing answer for you.
The drive you purchased ( which was hopefully cheap) will only write DVD-RAM
cartridges. It will only read DVD-R disks.
Specifications:
Interface: IDE
Buffer: 8MB
Write speed: 1,385KBps for 4.7GB, 695KBps for 2.6GB
Access speed: DVD-RAM: 145ms, DVD-ROM: 100MS, CD-ROM: 85MS
DVD-RAM media support: Read Only: DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-ROM XA
, CD-R, CD-RW, CD-DA, CD-Extra, Photo CD, Video CD.
Read/Write: DVD-RAM
This will probably make it useless for DVD movies. I don't know of any DVD
players that use these cartridges. If you want to use the copies in your
computer you're OK.
Good Luck,
PCPhill
