Joyce,
If you had any other antivirus, or spam checkers running, you will have a
problem with Norton and uninstalling and reinstalling probably wont work
either. Did you call their support number ? I have not called them in a
while but they usually resolve the problem. There also is a Norton uninstall
that wipes anything Norton out of your registry. By the way, you are
installing it on Windows XP Right ?

I have been there, done that with Norton. They _used_ to be good...
I now have AVG Free Edition (not to be confused with their 'trial'
version), plus SpyBot Search & Destroy, plus Spyware Blaster. (That
last has a desktop icon of a little guy with a helmet and shield, not
the purple spiderweb I made the mistake of trying one time.) Works for
me; my computer has been virus-free under the worst outbreaks, including
today's. HTH!
