Hi Diane,

You must have quite a few items in your Quick Launch bar (I have 87). When
you first started using WinXP the Taskbar was configured the way you want it
now but, apparently, after an unknown (to me) number it increases in height
to accommodate the Quick Launch bar and to have room for the Taskbar buttons
(open programs, windows, etc.). I don't know if this can be changed or not.
Perhaps someone with more knowledge than I can answer that.

There is an option in Taskbar Properties to "Group similar taskbar buttons".
You might try that and see if it changes anything. Personally, I like the
extra height because of the extra room and it allows the clock to show time,
day, and date. A work around that may appeal to you is to use the "Auto-hide
the taskbar" option. The Taskbar remains hidden (allows more screen space)
and when you need it, simply move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the
screen and it pops up.

I hope this helps...

Subject: [PCSOFT] xp toolbar

I know I should know this, but I can't figure this out. The taskbar is
bigger than it used to be. In Win98 I just use the double arrow to make
it smaller again. But that won't work this time in XP. When I remove
the quick launch bar it goes back to the regular size. But I need that
bar. What simple way is there to get it small, one line, again.
