I "think" I know what you are getting at.
You want to fully Boot to the GUI from a floppy.
An easy answer is, it can be faked. I've done it as far back as Win3.1
with all sorts of add-in card drivers.
The hard part is the floppy must be carefully constructed.
The "impossible part" comes in when the things you need no
longer fit on the floppy. (Registry, etc.)
So, you wind up using files from the hard drive.
If they are corrupted, you have no net gain in using this approach,
plus you need to access the HD, which can sometimes be a
different type of problem Booting from a floppy... (DDO, etc.)
