I should have said that there is no problem (in W98 anyway) with Windows
remembering folder view settings, provided that you navigate using WINDOWS
EXPLORER.

I don't use this method, never have liked it.  I find my way around my
computer by entering thru the 'My Computer' portal, then into C drive or
whatever, etc etc.

I suggest you try this system of navigation, and see how good W98 is at
remembering your preferences.

Having said that, I have run across the odd system, which DOES remember
settings, in the 'My Computer' mode. I suspect that this is a deliberate
move on the part of Microshaft to keep everyone off balance.
