Jim,

I had the identical problem resulting from customizing the inbox assistant.
After a chat with an MS tech over the web support service...He suggested
reinstall IE4.01, then clean up the registry with all avail tools (regclean
4.1a, Nuts, Regmon, Comix, etc), then reinstall Outlook 98.  Net result..it
now works fine and I have customized toolbars, inbox assist., etc w/no
probs.  Good luck!
