Hi Everyone,
To elaborate on my previous post on this subject (4/13/2004 12:58 PM), the
statement "Messenger Service in Windows 98 & ME cannot be disabled." is
misleading in that it implies that Win98 & ME has the Windows Messenger
Service, which it does not. Windows Messenger Service did not appear until
Windows NT and, it's important to note, it's completely different from, and
not in any way related to, "MSN Messenger", "Windows Messenger", or any
other well-known instant messaging system.
I apologize for any misunderstanding and hope this clarifies it.

Actually, if we're talking about MSN Messenger Service, it can be
uninstalled in WinME using Add/Remove > Windows
Setup > Communications. Then uncheck MSN Messenger Service.hth
