Greetings list--

I agree with Dean's suggestion, if the CD Audio format is not available.
It should be kept in mind that, even with today's frequency of sampling,
CD is already a compromise. Music/sound is analog--smooth waves.
Digital conversion changes those smooth waves to abrupt on/off signals.
Multiple samples eases this, of course, but it is still a compromise. MP3
is to sound what jpg is to images. It is a compression scheme, and, as
with any compression scheme, data loss is a given. It is also a
compression
scheme carried out on the already compromised CD Audio format.

If at all possible, to maintain the highest possible level of fidelity, it
is
best to burn music tracks in the CD Audio format, especially since the
stated desire here is to preserve LP music.

HTH,

Paul A. Shippert
