Thanks to those who responded. Since most was off list, copying for the
sake of others who may have this problem in future. The only thing I did
not try was re-installing Windows, since one of the fixes seems to have worked.

Hello Kent

This happened to me once.
The best you can do is start scandisk from DOS.
If possible with a startup diskette.

Works perfect.

good luck

Hi, Arnold,

I was able to get it to run in DOS, thanks. It still mysteriously did the
same thing when running Scandisk in Windows.

Hi, Al,

Well, I can't explain it, but something just worked.

I tried to cut PSTORES.EXE (it faded and looked like that's what was
happening) and when I attempted to paste it elsewhere, it was denied as
"Windows is using this file."

Ran End it All, (which I have done several times now) to shut down all
background programs. Thought before I try to move the file again, I'll try
Scandisk once more (probably had run 25 + times at this point). This time, it
worked!

Don't know if the attempt to move PSTORES.EXE had anything to do with it,
but I sure am going to try it again. Thanks again, Al, was getting
aggravating.

Regards, Kent
