John,

Try using System Restore (I hope it is enabled) and go back to a time when
it was working right.  Usually something that was added causes such
problems.  System Restore can be found under
START/PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/SYSTEM TOOLS/SYSTEM RESTORE

Also as a second possibility check for spyware intrusions as some spyware
can cause problems like this. Get a good spyware eliminator.
