XP is a little hard to get use to at first. I like it now but my wife likes
98SE better. The way to get XP to look like XP is easy and will be very
familiar. Go to start, control panel, double click system, then advanced
tab, and click the settings button, and then click adjust for best
performance, apply and ok. Then open my computer and go to tools folder
options and click use windows classic folders apply and ok. The same can be
applied to almost any folders. Just look for the option to switch to classic
view and things will look familiar

I have found that, with the right configuration, WinXP can appear to be
almost exactly like Win98. I set it up that way for ease of use for the
wife & kids. Just glancing at my machine, you would be hard pressed to
tell the difference between XP & 98...
Maybe you could work on that aspect of it for your friend? Windows XP is a
much better system to have running.
