Greetings--
While Mr. Mayer is correct--that you can rename the bookmark--your friend
can make this easier by including a more descriptive name for his website
between the tags <title> and </title>. For example, the source code at the
beginning of my church's home page includes the following:
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 6.0">
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">
<title>St. Paul United Methodist Church - Lusby MD</title>
<!--mstheme--><link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"
href="_themes/copy-of-tabs-and-folders-arial/copy1011.css"><meta
name="Microsoft Theme" content="copy-of-tabs-and-folders-arial 1011,
default">
<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="t, default">
</head>
When you use the "Add to favorites" feature of IE (or its counterpart in
another browser), the browser displays what is contained in the <title> tag
mentioned above. For your friend, adding that tag with a more descriptive
notation somewhere between the <head> and </head> tags should make the
bookmark more "user friendly".

Subject: [PCSOFT] title that gets bookmarked
I have a friend that is putting together his own website and has it down
pretty good. I pointed out one thing about it I didn't think was right and
that is what gets bookmarked under favorites. When I save his home page it
gets saved as "Home" instead of something descriptive that would make it
obvious what the site was. How would he change it?
