To produce averages from a range of data (miles, gallons etc.) on
one sheet to appear on a second sheet.
Click in the cell where you want the average to appear, type
=AVERAGE(
then with your mouse click on the first sheet and highlight the
range of data you want averaged, including plenty of blank cells for
future data. Tap return then type the closing bracket ) to the
average function and it should work.

Hi Tony and Jim,
I Tried "Consolidate" from the data menu, and since I am unable to figure
out the proper way to enter the references to the cells, I went to Tony's
method. What happens is on my second worksheet, I have a row named Average
Miles Driven in A1. I highlight A2, go to the formula bar, enter
=Average( go to the first sheet, highlight C3 through C100 (just to
have a range of cells even though there are only 16 entries) the
highlighting makes the for lack of a better description, blinking highlight
box around the range, I go back to sheet2, that range is automatically
entered in the formula bar, I add the closing ) and in A2 cell I get the
error, #DIV/0! What am I missing. Obviously if I can get one done I can do
all the other entries I have on sheet 2.
A Pivot table looks way to complicated for me at this time or maybe any
other time for that matter....:)
Thanks for the help.
