Try installing and running: AdAware 6.x from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
Frequent updates so make sure you have the latest "reference file".

Another one I run with the above (two views are better than one) is Spyware
Search and Destroy again with frequent updates:
http://www.safer-networking.org

....not last in my collection but for now.... HiJack This, a utility which
scans autostart apps and can find stuff that "hijacks the browser":
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

There are some utilities aimed at BHO, browser help objects, but I term them
browser hijack objects, which are slipped in to your system often unknown to
you.

Good luck!

David

Subject: Hidden pop-up blocker

Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me find a hidden pop-up blocker in my =
Windows98 programs. =20
A study course I'm taking over the internet would not start. I called =
the school tech support and was told that my Google pop-up blocker was =
interfering with the lesson. I turned it off but still the lesson would =
not start. I called again and the tech support agent asked about AOL =
(which I don't use), investigated, took control of my pc, tried =
different things but still no progress. Another techie came on board =
and believes I have another pop-up blocker. He asked that I do a =
CTL/ALT/DELETE to see if he could recognize any program that might be =
the culprit but none of the names I called out was familiar enough for =
him to want to delete, so nothing was done. He sent me to an internet =
site (I have IE) that he knew had 2 pop-ups and sure enough, no pop-ups =
appeared. He concluded that I still had an active pop-up blocker. Can =
someone tell me how to find where this pop-up blocker might reside so =
that it can be removed/disabled and I can continue with my lessons.

Thank you,
Margarita
