Alan,
You need to remove the extra folder from the services in you mail client. I had the same problem with Outlook 97 & Win 98. I went to Control Panel, Mail & Fax on the Services tab you will see the duplicate entries for Personal Folders, select the duplicate and remove. Not sure if this is the same your config. I suggest you export all your folders to a .pst file first.
