SecondCopy is a terrific backup program. You can do just about anything with it. You can set up profiles and back them up when you like (or automatically) and it will pick up the profiles' designated files from the designated folders. You can have one profile that will backup MYDocuments, for instance, and one for Favorites and/or for .dbx files (although, I use ExpressAssist 7 (EA7) for my email - its SOO easy to backup, restore, or just view old emails). Best of all, you don't HAVE to compress into an encrypted file (although you CAN), so that you don't require a special program if you want to use/read it down the road. It will do incremental backups, not by making a small, what's-changed file, but by actually modifying the backed up file to match the one you are backing up today. You can ask it to do a complete (as opposed to incremental) backup. You can set it to "match" whatever you have on your hard disk today. You can "archive" to a separate file that will be a permanent, unchanging backup. I just love it. I have an extra hard disk that I back up to, so the incremental works really well for me. You do have to purchase it, but it isn't very expensive, and it's well worth it.

There is a backup program included with XP, and you'll find it in System
Tools. If it's not there, you'll need to install it from the CD.
This is a very straightforward program that asks you which files to back up,
and where you want to create the backup.
Unfortunately, XP won't backup to CDs and floppies are too small for most
backups. I use a network PC for this purpose, but you could just create the
backup on your hard drive, then burn it to a CD, if you have that
capability.
You'll find more detail in the Help files under "Backup".
Copying is also a good backup for such files-just burn a CD (Or several, if
needed).
You may wish to include a subject line in future posts so members can get
the gist of your question without having to read the entire email.

I have windows xp, and my computer is HP pavilion a305w. I have pictures to
back up and no matter what I do nothing works. I have tried everything that
is
written for my computer and it still won't back up my pictures or files. I
thought I had solved it today, but to no avail. Have you any idea what steps
to
take.
