One extra thing that ZIP utilities do for you is give you the ability to
"span" a file over several disks. So, for instance, a 5MB image file is
tough to move to a different computer, but can be zipped (probably making it
more like 4MB) and split into 3 or 4 files, each filling a 1.44MB floppy
disk. Unzipping will collect all these files into a single file on the hard
drive, which will be the original 5MB size.
