Subject: [PCSOFT] disconnection prompt

Hi. I have two questions which I hope someone can shed some light on.

1. On starting up windows everything goes fine except when I reach the desktop a box comes up that reads
"Cannot open file. May be corrupted. Replace the file with a new one and try again." I click on the OK button
and it goes away. Everything runs as normal but it's a real nuisance.

Kerrie,

Here's something to try. Sometimes certain programs, usually viruses, change the settings in your windows ini
file. Even if the virus has been removed, there may still be some traces kicking around. Look in your Windows
folder for a file named Win.ini and open it. At the top you should see the following:

[windows]
load=
run=

If there is anything listed after "load=" or "run=", remove it and save the changes to the file. (It's always
a good idea to copy a file before changing it so you have a backup!!) If it does not solve the problem, it's
probably a good idea to return the backup copy to your windows folder. hth
