Well, the not enough memory error even when you have an ample amount of RAM
sounds like you have a virtual memory mangement problem. Make sure you have at least 200 MB of hard disk drive space for the Windows swap file. Make sure the virtual memory is enabled with the swap file able to grow up to 200 MB .
Make sure your C:\Windows\Temp folder is empty and clean up the temporary
internet files, which are stored in the folder (by default),
C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files, by going to "Internet Options" in the
control panel :

Internet Options ->Temporary Internet Files ->Settings ->View Files...

then select all the files by choosing Edit->Select All then choose Delete
on the file menu.

If that does not solve the above problem, you may have bad RAM .

When testing the RAM, DO NOT rely on the Himem.sys RAM testing,
because Himem.sys probably only tests up to 32 MB of RAM!

..Unless you want to test the first 32 MB of RAM.
If you receive the error message "ERROR: HIMEM has detected unreliable memory
at (address)..." your RAM module(s) are probably damaged and/or an
incompatibility problem.
