Adding to John and Ian's very good suggestions.  If you really need access to all the programs and do not want to have to go into windows explorer to find them when you want to run them, you can right click on a program listed in the programs list and select "send to desktop as a shortcut" - then you can clutter up your desktop with the programs! (I suggest you create a folder and drag all the shortcuts to the folder) and then delete them from the programs list.

I have to admit, my list is getting pretty full, too!!
