#1. Yes and no.  Personally, I would keep the last 48hours worth
    just in case someone needs to recover a recent file.
#2  It already does this.  Temp files only get left behind when Word
    is not exited properly.  Such as when there are power failures
    (real and/or operator induced) or system lock-ups.
