conerning where programs are launched at startup, John Pinter (among others)
wrote in january:

to add to that list, one obvious one that all too many forget is to go into
the program itself that starts up and unchecking the option to load at
startup.  if there are other places, someone please post them so i can add
them to my personal archive for future reference.  thanks.
