Rodger,  Thanks for the suggestion.  It worked!.  I am beginning to realize
that many of the problems that cause Explorer problems are related to a bad
video driver.  I also discovered a problem with the desktop just before
making the change.  I could not move icons even tho' the settings (Arrange
Icons Settings) should have allowed it.

Re-Installing video drivers fixed both problems... no other changes to
settings.
