Brenda,

I run Spybot as well. The list that you see is a compilation of robots and spyware that this program will immunize your machine against, and does not necessarily mean that those robots have been installed. There is also a secondary program called Spyware Blaster (not meant as an endorsement) that seems to protect against popups that get through the Spybot program. Be advised that some websites redirect your queries to other sites and are seen by Syware Blaster as popups, so if you click on a link and nothing happens, you will need to temporarily disable SB and try again.

Also, on other machines that I have installed this combination, They didn't seem to work as well as they do on mine, and I am at a loss to explain this, so... take it from there and good luck.

Regards,

Dean Kiley

  Subject: [PCSOFT] Spybot

Good morning. I have Spybot and was running it today when I looked at the lower left status bar and saw the listing of programs/files that the program is scanning. There were names like TeenXXXX which I KNOW I don't have on my PC. I tried searching Spybot's help file for some clue as to what was going on, but had no luck.

If I were to guess, I'd say Spybot is runnng through some spyware list it keeps and was comparing my files/programs to the spyware list, but that's only a poor guess from a novice.

Have any of you noticed what I've described? What is this list that I seen on the status bar?

  TIA, Brenda Dencer
