As you make the resolution finer (i.e. going from 1024 X 768 to 1152 X864) the box should get smaller.  The onscreen print gets tinier and the icons get tinier along with the box.  If you go to 640 X 480 or maybe even 800 X 600 on a small monitor it would go off the screen.  It should not be going off the screen as the resolution numbers get higher, everything should get smaller.
