I am running Win2k Professional - Although it is relatively expensive for
most folks, Microsoft has very good deals for those in education. Since I am
an instructor at a college, the price was right - at least I thought it was
a good deal till I ran into trouble :)
The slow response is not with MSIE, it is with Windows Explorer. Explorer
slowed down when NT 4 came with the "new look" - now Win2k seems to have
slowed it down even more. Eight seconds to wait for a file selection to
respond seems a bit long.
I plan to try a clean install on a spare drive and see if that will help. A
complaint I have is that Microsoft does not seem to allow us to download the
patches to Win2k but rather installs them from the net. When I do the new
install, I will have to download the patches all over again - is that why
the MS site keeps getting slower? <g>

I've run into it with MSIE on W2k Advanced Server -- clean install on a
dedicated partition. Page loads seemingly take forever, if they
