Jim,
Here's something I tried, and was successful, but for what you want, may
cause more program confusion then it's worth.
I first created these two folders:
C:\test
C:\WINDOWS\test
I put a TEST.txt file in C:\test
Then I added two lines to autoexec.bat as follows:
copy c:\test\*.* c:\WINDOWS\test
deltree /y C:\test\
The test.txt file was copied from c:\test to c:\WINDOWS\test, and then
deleted from c:\test on startup. hth
