According to PC World, the following are some of the locations for
start-up files:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run
HKEY_USERS\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run
Start Folder for the User
Start Folder for all Users
Win.ini LOAD= and RUN=
