Jagpal,

I have used both, and both are good.  I am currently using AVG and plan to 
stick with it.  Avast is also very good, but to install it you have to wait 
for them to send you a key # and you have to re-register it every year. 
This is a nuisance, so I switched back to AVG.  It updates itself every day 
just like Avast does, and runs a full scan every day if you want it to. 
Best of all, either are easy to uninstall if you decide to... Norton is 
nearly impossible to get rid of unless you go to their site and get a 
removal tool.
