Here one for you.
I am getting this error from a 486DX4 100 32 meg ram.
~While initializing device VXDLDR:
~Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer.
I could boot to the command prompt and avoid the error. I checked win.ini
and system.ini for the offending driver. Not found. So I ran the
following:
~c:\windows regedit /L:system /E temp.txt
I then searched the temp.txt for VXDLDR and found them. Removed the entries
and then ran the following:
~c:\windows regedit /L:system /C temp.txt
I then rebooted. The boot process ran through most of the boot process and
then recycled by itself back to the beginning of the boot process. The
second cycle returned the same error. I ran the first regedit command again
and the entry was back. New attack! I reloaded windows refreshing
corrupted and missing files only. Same result. I reloaded windows
completely. Same result. I could reformat the drive but the user does not
have a backup. I really don't want to backup this guys drive. Is there any
way to correct this.
