Hi Michael,
In any Outlook Express (OE) folder you can have two or more messages with
identical "From" lines and subjects. Windows won't allow this outside of OE
(with any file). So, that wouldn't be a problem with individual messages.
There would a problem with folders. OE won't allow two (sub)folders with the
same name within the same folder. If it's a folder that you created and you
now have a folder in OE with the same name then, to be on the safe side,
rename it if you decide to use import tool.
The problem you face is with the Inbox and any of the other four folders
native to OE. You can't move, rename, or modify them. For those, check the
two programs below. You may want to use this method for all the folders on
the CD. Good luck.

Subject: [PCSOFT] Old E-mail from CD backup
Two years ago I saved my inbox and mail sub-folders to a CD from my Outlook
Express (vs..6 on WIN98).
Now I'm trying to resurrect those e-mails on my new computer. I still use
OE v.6, but am now on a WIN XP OS. I tried downloading the inbox and
folders to my Documents, they are .dbx database files. I don't know how to
open them. I didn't want to try to import them to my current e-mail OE
tool - I was afraid I'd overwrite my current e-mail. Is there a way I can
extract the e-mail messages off the CD and read them???
