When XP Pro is running you can just right-click on each one that you don't want and choose delete, then OK. It will disappear and stay disappeared. Or, you could right click on an open area of the desktop and choose arrange icons, then scroll down to show desktop icons and click on it if it is checked. All your icons will disappear until you do that again and click on show desktop icons to check it.

>I have recently purchased a new computer with XP Pro and have loaded several new programs. Many of them give one the option of not placing an icon in the taskbar but many do not thus giving me a huge amount of icons. Could someone please tell me how to manually remove these icons at startup? Thank you so much for all your help.
