Part of your answer lies in the settings screen to which you refer.  Those
settings are default font settings if none are specified by the site you are
visiting.  It would appear that a font is being specified that your computer
does not recognize.  Either that, or this has nothing to do with the fonts,
but is another problem.

Perhaps you could go to your Windows install disk and see if there are
additional fonts to install?
