I did as you asked...

one error was found....

in the sysfile

the USER.exe is missing or corrupt...

the only disk I have is the original APTIVA installation disks for my IBM
and the WIN98SE disk...
Yet, they do not seem to have the file needed when I click on the drive
to find it...(as prompted)

I still get the error message on boot up:

"missing or corrupted file: Windows\System\himem.sys" and a second line
which says
 "error in line 8 of config.sys"

any more ideas?
