Ann,

1) Yes, OpennOffice can and I have OO and Office 97 both running with no
problems. It will also open Word  documents and save them as Word or OO.
2) Yes (If from Word or Excel etc..) but just us the open file in OO.
3)  XML is the language behind HTML which is the internet's text and visual
interpretion language which is displayed in web browsers. I don't know if
Office 2000 can display this but I have Office 97 which when copied and
pasted displays text only (and with changed formatting).
4) I have removed and reinstalled OO without any problems.
