In Word under Tools : Options : General, you can check "blue background, white
text". This gives a nice dark blue background and the text prints out black. You
can then change the background to black it that is better. The text color is set
to automatic and prints fine. You can automate the background color change with
something like;

ActiveWindow.View.Type = wdOnlineView
With ActiveDocument.Background.Fill
    .Visible = True
    .ForeColor.RGB = RGB(0, 0, 0)
End With

If you set the background color to black and the text color to white. You see
nothing printed. Under the Options : Compatibility tab, you can select "print
colors as black on noncolor printers" but Word doesn't see White as a color so
you still see nothing printed.
