It has been my experience that once your BIOS chip has failed, there aren't
many options other than contact the manufacturer.  Not sure about your
model, but it will probably necessitate a motherboard replacement...

I could be wrong though...anyone else?

I have a Toshiba 440cdx Satellite Pro, that on boot up says:
*** bad check sum (cmos) *** check system then press {f1} I can't get it to
do anything, I have tried using a boot disk with the bios downloaded from
toshiba but still can't get by the first screen. How do I get it to boot to
the bios Screen or any screen from where it is now?
