Diet Pro


I have a Dell 3000 with XP that I have been running Diet Pro on for over a year  with no problems,.I have AVG and Zone Alarm programs enabled.  About a month ago I upgraded one of my online  utilities  I can't remember which one. Shortly after I went to log onto my Diet Pro and it would not open. I tried opening from the start menu with no luck and even  the folder in My computer programs, nothing, Finally I tried uninstalling from the Diet Pro disc only to get a.  1606 error Could not access network location %userprofile%Recent 
Then I tried reinstalling the program and got a 1607 error Unable to install Install Shield scripting runtime
Then began the long  process of trying the recommendations of Support to install Msciexec.exe from the Knowledge base KB0007, then Q108340 followed by Q108158  going in to the registry and making changes all to no avail. The one thing I found was that nearly all the corrections were for Microsoft program installers. Others  were only noted as program specific, which means ”Good Luck!”:
So here I am with a program on my machine that does not run and I can not remove. I am toying with the unhappy choice of formating the hard drive and  starting over again using Dells restore program as they do not ship the installation discs anymore. Which also has some dire warnings like the meds they try to sell  you on TV  where  the cure is more dangerous than the condition That is unless I am missing something, any suggestions?
