Ian, My computer is a little sensitive to Crucial Ram.
(Great company, read on...)
The "best test" of RAM is Using Windows.
When it gets bad enough it will "fail" in DOS...
If I order their RAM listed for my computer with their
part number as listed on their WEB site, BUT from
a different provider IT WILL NOT WORK.
When you order _direct_ from them, there is an additional
four numbers (letters?) in the part number that matches
the RAM to my exact machine. (These numbers are
only on the stick sticker, not the WEB site.)
Even though I bought it "outside" their WEB configurator
they still honored their Lifetime Guarantee.
Later (8-10 months) one of their two sticks stopped working
with each other. Again they replaced it, no problem...
RAM can and does go bad, and can also be very fussy
with certain Mother Boards...
Leave no stone unturned when you suspect the RAM is
the problem...
(PS: Other than RAM problems, these two machines have
been rock solid... XP-Pro)
