What error messages do you get?
Does this occur in Safe Mode?
I'd be looking for malware problems first.
Download Malwarebyte's program and run it:

Hi,

Computer 1: Dell Desktop (about 4-5 years old)
Computer 2: Dell Laptop (5 years old)
Computer 3: Asus EEE (1 year old)

Connection: Wireless dsl through Verizon

All three specs:
OS: WinXP SP3, IE 8 with all security updates
Anti-Virus: AVG free version
Anti-Malware: Windows Defender
Firewall: Zone Alarm free version

All have been working fine for the last year. Now, the Asus EEE
connects fine and I can browse, download, etc. normally. However,
the only thing I can conect to now on #1 and #2 is G-mail (can
receive and read new messages. Cannot connect to any link in an
e-mail. Can send new messages and they are received) and Google (can
search google but cannot connect to any of the search
results). Cannot connect to any other web sites, cannot update AVG
or Windows Defender.

To eliminate a firewall problem, I shut down Zone Alarm on #1 and #2
and things remained the same. Firewall seems to have no effect on
not connecting.

What else should I be trying or looking for/at? It's a mystery to
me why 2 sites can load....G-mail and Google...and no others.

Thanks
Sue
