A machine running Word2003 and XP Prof has been added to a
network. There are a lot of Word templates available with
logos and address details in the header and footer.

When one of these templates is opened in Word2003 the
headers and footers do not show, the page seeming shorter
than usual. This happens in both Normal and Print Layout
View. If a print preview is done then the headers and
footers show as normal. The headers and footers can be
edited or viewed via View/Header Footer.

Once the template has been saved and the new file opened
again the headers and footers are on view as normal.

This doesn't stop people getting the work done but adds to
the confusion as they need to see the header and footer to
remind them on which template they are working. It is a
nuisance to save, close and then open again so as to have
the whole page on view.

Would be pleased to hear from anybody who can help with
this oddity.

Regards

Tony
