Subject: Re: GoBack vs Restore
I thought GoBack was absolutely fantastic - except - my hard disk was =
writing almost all the time. I figured it would shorten the life of my =
disk.
From personal experience I found Roxio's GoBack more trouble than it was
worth, especially when I was hit with a virus. It would not restore the latest
image and was disabled by the virus as well. In addition, I found it irritating
that it would constantly re image the disk while defragging the HDD
interrupting the process. My experience may not be typical (It was installed on a machine
using Win98SE) but it was enough to discourage me from using it. I have read
mixed reviews on the product and had installed it as part of Norton
SystemWorks 2002, but when I needed it the most, it let me down. I found that restoring
the registry from the command prompt to be more reliable (most of the time)
and uninstalled for that reason. Just my two cents.
