I recently bought and installed Norton System Works Professional Edition on
my Gateway AMD Athlon 750 Mghz computer with Windows 98SE OS, 128 MB Ram. I
have been VERY pleased with Norton Anti-Virus and Cleansweep for the last
few years, but have to learn about Utilities, Ghost, etc. (I did NOT
install Goback as I have had problems with that in the past).

I am quite concerned at what this has done to my system resources, 91% on
bootup before installation of NSW, 82% now. When I open word processing and
other programs my resources drop as low as 50%. I had downloaded the
program End-it-All before installing NSW. When I check what is running in
the background using End-it-All there are a lot of
programs running in the background that DO NOT show in the Startup - (run,
msconfig, startup where you can check and uncheck what you want running).
For instance, for some reason MS Messenger is shown as running in
End-it-all, but it is unchecked in Startup. I know it IS running, because
it is annoying me. This has me puzzled. I thought IF something was running
it would be in the Startup and I could uncheck it. Can someone explain?

TIA

Barbara Allen
