Not sure if this still works in all cases, but I use it all the time...

I just START a forward of the message (you don't even have to
assign "where" it would have gone...)
In the forward, you can pretty much do anything you want with
the message, the attachment, and it will even "unlock" - "view in
text only" (if you use that...) YMMV as there are lots of related
settings and patches that control all of this...
