Your friend is seeing the dial-up terminal window. To remove it, give her these instructions:
1. Double click "My Computer" icon.
2. Double click "Dial-up Networking"
3. Right click on her Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection, and click "Properties".
4. Choose the "General" tab (if necessary).
5. Click on the "Configure" button (at the bottom).
6. Choose the "Options" tab.
7. Uncheck both, "Bring up terminal window before dialing" and "Bring up terminal window after
dialing".
8. Click "Ok" to close modem properties window.
9. Click "Ok" to close her ISP window.
10. Close "Dial-up Networking" window.
11. Close "My Computer" window.
The terminal window will be terminated for good. If, for any reason, she should ever need to see the
terminal window again, (she won't) tell her to follow these instuctions, but to check one of the
boxes listed in # 7 (above). Have a nice day :)

Subject: [PCSOFT] Dial up
Thanks everyone for the info on holding in the on/off switch when there is
no reset button. I told my friend to try that instead of unplugging the
computer.
Here is another thing I'd like to solve for her. When she clicks to get on
the internet a box pops up that looks like a DOS screen, it has a border and
the inside is black and it's maybe 1/4 the size of the screen. It's called
'Predial Terminal Screen' and at the bottom has two options. Continue F7
or Cancel F3 when she clicks on the Continue option it goes ahead and
dials into her ISP. How do we get rid of that so it will dial in
automatically???
This is a new HP computer, 800MGH, 128MB RAM, running Windows ME.
Thanks
God's Blessings
