You can swap them, no problem at all.

I know some CD-R/RWs don't like to be slave (seems like burner software problem).
Be careful, the heat could fire your expensive CD-RW (you know when it burns CD, it
is very hot), the last defense you have (and the cheapest one??) is to open computer
case, nothing better than open-case-cooling, however, it will bring dust problem, so
you will have to clean dust more often (especially pay attention at CPU fan).
