You might be able to resolve this problem by holding dowen Ctrl and Alt,
then pressing Delete to bring up Task Manager. Look for RNAAP (SP?),
highlight it and "End Task". Then try to connect.
This program is normally held open after you connect and then disconnect. I
have heard that AV programs can interfere with this Dial up program.

Can anyone tell me how to find out which program is holding a com port open.
My modem will not connect  and I keep getting this message.
