I agree with Ottie re ccleaner...I use it myself.  Another good similar program is ilsystem wiper.  You can set this to run at startup and wipe at shutdown.

Perhaps anne's problem is with another partition NOT C:\. If any partition has less than 15 % free capacity then disk full errors may occur.
